Before religious violence destroyed her home and livelihood in Jaranwala last August, Noor was running a beauty parlor.
During the attack, Noor and her family hid themselves in the nearby fields. The attackers even followed them and tried to light fire to the whole field.
When she came back the next day to her house, nothing was left except ashes. The attackers not only burned their house but also her small beauty parlor setup, which was her only source of income. She also provides for her epileptic nephew, whose parents died when he was young.
Her house was reconstructed with government assistance, but she still did not have any funds to restart her beauty parlor and began earning once again.
Now, thanks to World Compassion Fellowship, Noor has been able to restart her salon and begin earning once more for her family!
Losing economic instability puts Christians at high risk of sliding into a cycle of poverty. Children may have to leave school to help provide for the family or families may resort to borrowing money from brick kiln factories.
Restoring Noor’s livelihood is just one of the ways we assisted with recovery efforts in Jaranwala following the attacks, thanks to World Compassion Fellowship.
