Arif Masih is a poor Christian man born in a brick kiln where his father and grandfathers were working as a slave. Nasreen, his wife, has the same background. They got married in a brick kiln with the previous debts of their respective families.
God blessed them with two sons and two daughters. Arif and Nasreen had a great desire to give their children an independent life. They did not want to see them with the same circumstances which they faced, but unfortunately their situation went from bad to worse as time passed by.
Arif suffered from tuberculosis (TB), and his wife suffered from heart disease, but they did not have any resources for treatment. Meanwhile, their children started working in the brick kilns without any education. Their daughters were being harassed sexually on a daily basis by the brick kiln owners and foremen.
Further, their loan kept increasing day by day as did their problems and pains without any solutions in sight. They were praying and waiting on God.
Then, in October 2017, when a team from RAM USA visited the brick kiln, Arif appealed to us to help his family get out of slavery and told us about his pain and circumstances. After we prayed together, we left.
When we returned to the Sablone House, we began raising funds for the family to get out of slavery.
We made several visits to the brick kiln owner to negotiate their freedom. But during the negotiation process, he transferred them to another brick kiln and then left for Saudia Arabia to go on a religious pilgrimage.
Meanwhile, his assistant lied to us that the family escaped from the brick kiln in night. However, we kept trying to locate the family through workers in different brick kilns. One day Arif managed to call us and told his location and where he was transferred.
We began negotiating with that brick kiln owner and after a couple of visits we were able to free the family.
We gave them shelter at the Sablone House where they could arrange to start a new life. Both of Arif’s girls started RAM’s sewing class at the Sablone House. We managed to get complete medical exams of the family. Arif and Nasreen were checked up by senior doctors and now taking their medicines regularly.
They are very thankful to RAM and all the donors who helped them.
